Gwen Waymon has been working in the entertainment industry and based in the Atlanta area for 15+ years; mostly in front of the camera in film/television and commercials as well as voice over.

Only weeks ago she performed in the fundraiser stage production of “The Vagina Monologues” and its’ companion piece “A Memory, A Monologue, A Rant and A Prayer” at Outfront Theatre which benefited Camp Cadi, a nonprofit dedicated to breaking the silence of childhood sexual abuse.

Past projects have been a guest starring role in the TV series Hap & Leonard (Sundance Channel) where she portrayed the role of “Turquoise”; a no-nonsense Mom from around the way and Miracles From Heaven; a feature film starring Jennifer Garner and Queen Latifah where she was “Nurse Dianne”. Other film & television credits include The Rosa Parks Story (CBS) starring Angela Bassett and Cicely Tyson where she played the role of college professor “Joanne Robinson”, Army Wives as “Elena”, a 911 operator (Lifetime Network), America’s Most Wanted, Tyler Perry’s House of Payne and various other roles over the years. Commercials, training videos and voiceover work include a national commercial for Sonic Restaurant and local & regional commercials for TaxSlayer, The Cartoon Network, TripSource, Georgia Power, Publix, Coca Cola, AT&T, FedEx, Chick-Fil-A and many others.

Gwen has also worked in the industry behind the scenes as a writer, producer and director of her own projects; one in particular, #Nappy, a song and music video parody of the Pharrell Williams’ song Happy. A cute and funny project poking fun at us African American women and the “drama” we sometimes go
through as well as the pride that we take in our hair in its’ natural state. She took on this project to challenge herself and to determine if she could accomplish writing, producing and directing a project of her own and is extremely grateful to those who participated and very proud of the completed project which can be viewed on YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1d3wbc51fc8

She has also been behind the scenes in other independent projects as Co-Producer, 1 st AD and Production Manager and is very excited and grateful to be working with such a talented group on this very important, timely and worthwhile production.
